Relaxed Performances
Our Relaxed Performances are crafted to make music accessible particularly to those who may struggle to visit us at one of our bigger concerts at the King’s Hall. They are especially suited to those living with Dementia, children and adults with additional learning needs, their families and carers; but anyone can attend.
Some of the main features of our Relaxed Concerts are:
Lights are left on and doors remain open throughout the performance
Separate chill-out space is available
Audience members are encouraged to sing or dance along to tunes they know and love
Opportunities to meet and connect with the CSSO musicians before and after the performance
All of our Discover concerts, performances and events offer free tickets to children and carers, and some of these events – like our recent Out and About Festival in the City Centre – are completely free for everyone. Look out for our orange Discover brand on our events!
Hospital Visits
The CSSO has a dedicated programme designed to take music into hospital wards in Staffordshire and Cheshire. Two of our musicians deliver an hour-long session at patients’ bedsides to increase their health and wellbeing during their hospital stay.
We have a separate programme specifically aimed at children and young people in hospital to ensure that they can get the musical provision that they, too, deserve.

Dementia Workshops
The CSSO is a passionate advocate for the powerful role that music can play in memory and wellbeing. Our dedicated dementia workshops are designed not as music therapy sessions, but as creative, participatory musical experiences through which participants can reminisce, share and engage. These sessions are designed to engage not just those living with dementia, but also their carers, family and friends.
