We want to make everybody who visits us feel as comfortable as possible. Whether you are planning your first visit (yay!) or are a seasoned concert-goer, you may find some of the frequently asked questions below helpful. If you have any further questions, please get in touch
I’m worried about clapping in the wrong place. When should I clap?
There are no rules on when you should and should not clap. Some classical music consists of several sections, called ‘movements’, and people often wait until the end of the very last movement before they clap; others clap between movements. At the end of the day, our orchestra will just be grateful for any appreciation our audience shows.
If you’re still worried, we suggest waiting until somebody else starts to clap – after all, somebody has to be the first to go!
What should I wear to a concert?
We want everybody who visits us to feel comfortable and part of a wider music-loving community. Some members of our audience love to dress up to make the evening feel a little more like a special event; others simply wear their everyday clothes. So, whether you wear a shirt and jacket or a T-Shirt and jeans, you definitely won’t be the only one. What you won’t see very often at our concerts is black tie.
Where can I park?
The closest car park to the King’s Hall is Kingsway Car Park, ST4 1BL. Please note that this is a Pay & Display car park. You can find pricing information here.
There are also a small number of disabled parking spaces right outside the King’s Hall.
We highly recommend arriving in plenty of time in order to park as Kingsway Car Park can get quite busy on concert nights.
What time should I arrive?
We open the doors to the King’s Hall an hour before the concert start time. We recommend arriving at least half an hour before the performance to give yourself the opportunity to buy/scan your tickets, get a drink from the bar (card only), take in the stunning architecture of the hall and, of course, to connect with friends, family and fellow concert-goers.
What happens if I arrive late?
Will I be allowed to take photographs or videos?
permitted. We cannot allow you to take videos, however, as this can breach copyright law. When you share any photographs, be sure to tag us on social media!
